Nourishment & Boundaries: Why I'm Done Chasing Balance

There are always 10,000 things to do every day.
Wash the dishes.
Clean the bathroom.
Finish that assignment.
Complete your workout.
Cook dinner.
Do the laundry.
Play with the kids.
Have some me time.
Respond to those unanswered texts.
Post on social media.
Call that friend back.
Check on family.
Review your finances.
Sleep for 8 hours.
Plan that upcoming trip...
And the list goes on and on.
The mental load we carry is endless—and if we’re not careful, it will bury us beneath a sense of never-enoughness.
But here’s what I know to be true now more than ever:
I am a human being, not a human doing.
Shoutout to Toni Jones for that sacred reminder.
This month, I’m reclaiming my right to rest. I’m nourishing my body, protecting my spirit, and releasing the unrealistic standard of “doing it all.” Because I’ve learned the hard way—balance is a myth. All things in your life are not created equal, and trying to treat them as if they are is bananas!

What I’m choosing instead is harmony.
Harmony doesn’t mean everything is perfectly in place.
It means that what needs my energy most, gets it—and what doesn’t, waits.
It means that some balls will drop—and that’s okay. It means I’m learning to be okay with the house not being perfectly clean if it means I spent meaningful time with my son. That the late nights working after he goes to bed are a part of the season I’m in. That when I feel my rope thinning, I don’t have to prove anything to anybody—I need to pour back into me.
And yes, sometimes people will be disappointed.
They may not understand why I didn’t return that call or text.
Why I said “no” to that event.
Why I’m resting when there’s still so much to do.
But I’ve come to accept that everyone might not agree with the balls I drop—and I'm okay with that.
I am not living my life to keep every plate spinning and every person pleased.
I’m living to stay aligned, well, and awake in my purpose.
🌿 Nourishment Looks Like...
Nourishment isn’t just a green smoothie or a good night’s sleep (though those help!). It’s anything that refills your spirit after being drained.
This month, I invite you to reflect on:
What actually nourishes me right now?
What routines are life-giving, and which ones are just survival?
Where am I saying “yes” to avoid guilt—but at my own expense?
We get to redefine what success looks like.

For me, success looks like a peaceful home, a regulated nervous system, and a heart that feels at ease. Success is having time to laugh with my son. To sit outside and breathe deeply. To move slowly in the morning instead of sprinting into the day.
That’s the life I’m building—and I want that for you, too.
✋🏾 Boundaries Aren’t Barriers—They’re Protection
A lot of us were raised to believe that setting boundaries was selfish or harsh. But the truth is: boundaries are how we protect what matters most.
I had to learn this the hard way—through burnout, people-pleasing, and exhaustion masked as ambition.
But now, I’m more interested in sustainability than speed.
If it costs me my peace, if it leaves me depleted, if it disconnects me from what truly matters... it’s a no.
I’m still learning, of course. But each month, I’m seeing the results of consistent effort. My confidence is growing. I’m building new partnerships. I’m pitching ideas I used to hold back. I’m showing up—for me, not just for everyone else.
This is what it looks like to step into your power and set your own pace.
💛 A Gentle Nudge for You
As we step fully into May, I hope you’ll take a moment to ask:
What do I truly need this month?
What would feel nourishing, not draining?
What boundaries would allow me to show up more fully and authentically?
Let this be the month you choose harmony over hustle.
Let this be the month you choose you.
Because you deserve rest. You deserve clarity. You deserve to move through this season at your own sacred pace.
And if you drop a ball or two along the way?
So be it.
You're still worthy. You're still growing. You're still doing beautifully.

Right on time this midweek.
